In the morning, I was brave. I told myself, “I can handle 40 years in the wilderness.” But after a long day at the warehouse, moving more boxes of coffee than I’ll ever drink in a lifetime, that resolve vanished.
Exhaustion took over, and my heart began to waver: “Maybe 40 years is too much. I shouldn’t have prayed for this.”
When I finally sat down and opened the Word, dazed and drained, one verse caught my eye:
“Remember today that your children were not the ones who saw and experienced the discipline of the Lord your God: his majesty, his mighty hand, his outstretched arm.” (Deuteronomy 11:2)
I realized I was trying to push through the wilderness with my own strength. Today, I stop striving and stand before His Word. I choose to remember His mighty hand that is greater than my exhaustion.
