Opening Prayer for Sunday Service
April 20, 2025

Jesus Christ,
who was crucified for us—
who atoned for our sins
and died in our place—
we praise You.

On the third day You rose.
You commanded us to proclaim the gospel to all nations.
You said, “Receive the Holy Spirit.”
You ascended to heaven and are seated on the throne.
We praise You, Lord Jesus.

Lord, today we gather
to praise the risen Christ.
Receive our worship.
Through our praise,
may the name of Jesus be lifted high.

Through our prayers,
let Your will be done
in this land and in this church.

Fill this place
with praise to You.
Let our worship carry the fragrance of heaven
and cover this town.

Lord, fill every heart in this congregation
with Your Word.
In temptation and in trial,
grant us victory by the power of Your Word.
When we pray,
and when we worship,
Holy Spirit, work among us.

Shape this church
not after the ways of the world,
but after the church of the apostles.
May the church Jesus taught about,
the prayer He taught,
and the worship He desired
be lived out here today.

Make us like Jesus—
only Jesus.
Following the One who died on the cross,
break us before the cross
and teach us to die to ourselves each day.
Following the One who rose again,
let us live in the power of His resurrection.

Because He loved us
and gave Himself for us,
grant that we may truly live
by faith in Jesus.

We praise the risen Lord.
We praise the God who planted His church in this place,
who sent pastors and ministers,
and who gathered these precious believers.

Through Your church,
we praise You for the new things You are doing.

We pray in Jesus’ name.
Amen.
